AG advices IGP on Swarnavahini investigation

Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera yesterday returned a number of case files regarding the investigation into the sale of shares of broadcaster Swarnavahini, to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

According to Attorney General’s Coordinating Secretary State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the AG has informed the IGP that the investigation into the matter has not been conducted to his satisfaction and that it has not yielded adequate evidence to prosecute possible offenders in court.

The AG has also advised the IGP as to how the investigation should be directed and returned the incomplete case files back to the investigators.
