The Attorney General’s (AG) Department has not been provided 22 annexures of the Presidential Committee of Inquiry (PCoI) complete report on the Easter Sunday bombing, officials said yesterday.
According to Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the PCoI has only submitted 65 out of the 77 annexures of the report, with 22 volumes being withheld due to the content of them, which include “sensitive information regarding National Security”. The decision not to provide the 22 annexures have been made by the PCoI.
“The AG’s Department may need some time to assess the findings and evidence presented in the PCoI report, the Police investigations and the Parliament Select Committee report into the Easter Sunday bombings and conduct further investigation before charges can be filed against suspects,” Jayaratne said.
