Adjourned debate on KDU Bill set for Friday

The adjourned debate on the Second Reading of the General Sir John Kotelawala National Defence University Bill will take place in Parliament on Friday.

It is not clear if the Bill will be put to a vote the same day, as it is to be taken up for further consideration by the Consultative Committee on Defence amid rising opposition to it.

The Inter-University Students Federation held a protest near the Parliament roundabout yesterday calling on the Government to withdraw the Bill, which several Opposition parties, including the SBJ and the JVP, are expected to vote against.
