All public sector workers back to usual duty from 3 Jan.

Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry yesterday said all public sector employees are required to return to work as usual from 3 January.

Earlier, the heads of institutions were instructed to limit the number of staff members reporting to work and to summon them to the office at their discretion, in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry Secretary J.J. Rathnasiri had instructed all members of the staff to comply with the guidelines issued by the Health Services Director-General.

In 2020, almost 1.5 million State workers took home 86.47% of total tax revenue.
