Ambassador Aryasinha attends INDOPACOM inauguration in Hawaii

  • Exchanges views with APCSS and East-West Center

Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha attended the inauguration ceremony of Admiral John Aquilino as the Commander of the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), presided over by Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, last weekend.

During his official visit to Hawaii, Ambassador Aryasinha also visited the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS). He was received by DKI APCSS Director Pete Gumataota and addressed its senior staff, including those focusing on Sri Lanka, and had an exchange of views on developments relating to Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka-US relations and the politico-economic dynamics in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ambassador Aryasinha also visited the East-West Center and met its President Dr. Richard R. Vuylsteke and senior staff involved with programs offered to Sri Lankans, with a view to facilitating greater opportunities for Sri Lankan scholars.

He also met with members of the Sri Lanka community in Hawaii, including Sri Lankan students.
