Army to roll out mobile vaccination from today

Sri Lanka Army will launch its Mobile Vaccination Fleet focused on Western Province from today.

Army said the move will help to fast-track the national vaccination drive to administer the vaccines against the COVID-19 particularly for the elderly, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in the society.

10 special vehicles with medical teams of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) and the Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health will administer the vaccine.

The initiative will cover areas as per directions by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Head, Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva.  

The Army said those with special needs are required to pre-register with the NOCPCO through hotline numbers – 1906 or 011 2 860 002 for this door-to-door mobile service.
