Aswesuma payment for September begins today: Semasinghe

State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe announced yesterday that over Rs. 8.5 billion has been issued to the banks to be credited to the accounts of ‘Aswesuma’ beneficiaries for the month of September.

He noted that a total of Rs. 8,571 million has been transferred to the relevant banks accounts and the amounts will be credited to the accounts of over 1.3 million (1,377,000) beneficiary families from today (23).

The State Minister added that the payments for October, November and December will be paid to the beneficiaries before the end of the year. Following the completion of the consideration of appeals and objections, Semasinghe noted that eligible persons will receive the ‘Aswesuma’ benefits effective from July.
