Avurudu ‘Neketh Seettuwa’ for 2023 handed over to President

‘Nekath Seettuwa’ the document containing the auspicious times for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2023 was handed over to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

In keeping with the tradition, the document containing the auspicious times was handed over to the President by Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickremanayake and the Department of Cultural Affairs.

The Avurudu Neketh Seettuwa includes the time of the dawn of the New Year, non-auspicious period prior to the dawn of New Year and the auspicious time for cooking meals, exchanging money and to par take the first meal of the New Year, anointing oil and leaving for work. 

Senior Advisor to the President on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayake, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, Buddha Shasana Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary Somaratne Vidanapathirana, Additional Secretary Tilak Nandana Hettiarachchi, Director (Promotion) Dr. Prasad Ranasinghe, Director of Cultural Affairs Bhagya C. Katudeniya and several others also attended this event.
