Bandula decides not to contest in General election

Former Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena yesterday said that he will not contest the upcoming Parliamentary Election and instead, is expecting to get involved in non-political activities such as producing a movie.

The former Parliamentarian said that during his 20-year political career, he had served as a Parliamentarian representing the Homagama Division, and has also served in the capacity of Cabinet Spokesman, State Minister and Minister.

Stating that through these positions he has served the public to the best of his capacity, Gunawardena said he is also content for having done his best for the Homagama Division as well. 

Alongside his interest in producing a movie, Gunawardena said he also intends to pursue a Doctoral study in the coming years, due to which he will not contest the General Election.
