Bangladesh donates essential medicines worth $ 2.2 m to Sri Lanka

he High Commissioner of Bangladesh Tareq Md Ariful Islam on Tuesday handed over a donation of essential medicines worth $ 2.2 million to the Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

The donation consists of 79 essential medications for a number of ailments including antibiotics, cancer, high blood pressure, viral epilepsy, and asthma.

Speaking at the occasion, the High Commissioner stated that Bangladesh is happy to assist Sri Lanka during this difficult time.

The High Commissioner said that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have had a very close and cordial relationship since time immemorial and Bangladesh and its people are highly friendly towards Sri Lanka as a regional country. He also said Bangladesh stands to assist Sri Lanka in any way possible in the future.

Minister Rambukwella officially accepting the stock of drugs as the Health Minister, and said the high-level relationship in the health sectors of the two countries is just as important as the close relationship between the two countries He also pointed out the importance of implementing an exchange program between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from doctors to other staff.

The High Commissioner and Minister discussed how the two countries can collaborate in the pharmaceutical industry and exchange human resources in the medical industry.
