Basil seeks Mahanayake blessings for 2022 Budget

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa stated that he believes that he will have an opportunity to present an effective budget for the country and the people.

The Minister of Finance expressed these views while responding to media queries after visiting Kandy to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and called on the Chief Prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya and briefed them on the forthcoming budget.

The Minister said that he had come to seek the blessings of the Sacred Tooth Relic for the budget to be presented on behalf of the people of the country and hoped that he could present a good budget for the people and the country.

The debate on the Appropriation Bill for the year 2022 will be held from 12 November to 10 December. The vote on the third reading of the budget will take place on 10 December at 5 p.m.
