Buddhist monks visit Pakistan from 19-26 April

In line with Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan’s vision to develop Buddhist religious tourism, a high-level delegation comprising of senior Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka is visiting Pakistan from 19-26 April.  

Besides meeting the President and the Prime Minister, the delegation will be visiting the heritage sites of Gandhara civilisation in Taxila, Swat and Takht-i-Bahi in Mardan and will also be experiencing various historical and archaeological marvels in Lahore and Islamabad.

Following the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, the high-level Buddhist monks’ visit has been arranged by High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo to promote religious tourism to Pakistan and to enhance people-to-people contact between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.  

While deeply appreciating the keen interest shown by the senior monks to undertake the visit, Major General (R) Muhammad Saad Khattak, High Commissioner of Pakistan, personally saw the delegation off at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo on 19 April.
