The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has recorded a nine-hour long statement from former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando on Monday, over the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, Police said yesterday. The statement had been recorded from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Fernando, who was arrested along with Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara over the failure to prevent the terrorist attacks, was released on a surety bail of Rs. 500,000 last week. At the bail hearing Colombo Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the CID to record a statement from the two officials.
