CID records statement from ex-Health Minister Keheliya

A team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday recorded a statement from former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at his residence.

The police said the statement was on the controversial sub-standard Immunoglobulin import issue. Rambukwella is now the Environment Minister.

So far, several high profile arrests have been made in connection with the case including the former Health Ministry Secretary, the Health Ministry’s Medical Supplies Division Director and three officials of the same division, as well as the owner of the relevant company that is said to have imported the batch of substandard Immunoglobulin vials by forging documents.

They are currently in remand custody.
