CID submits report with new information on Lasantha murder

The Criminal Investigation Department, conducting investigations into the killing of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge, has submitted a detailed report with new information on the murder to the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday. When the case was taken up for hearing, the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court further remanded the two suspects, former senior DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara and former Mount Lavinia Police Crimes OIC Sub-inspector Tissa Sugathapala, who were arrested over concealing evidence pertaining to the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge, until 25 May.

When the case was taken up today, President’s Counsel Anura Meddagoda appeared on behalf of former DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara said his client was sick and he could not be present.The defence also submitted a further report to the court.
