CONEX 2021 naval training exercise held successfully

CONEX 2021, a naval training exercise held for the third time by the Sri Lanka Navy, came to an end on Wednesday (10 February). 

Sixteen Navy vessels including four Offshore Patrol Vessels joined three Sri Lanka Coast Guard vessels and four aircraft from the Sri Lanka Air Force for the three-day exercise. 

According to the Navy, the exercise is aimed at improving interoperability between partnering agencies and maintaining operational readiness. 

CONEX 2021 tested the sailors, airmen and coast guardsmen on replenishment at sea (RAS), towing of vessels, firefighting onboard, vertical replenishment (VERTREP), formations and ship manoeuvres, communications, rappelling, visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) by day and night, in addition to naval surface and anti-aircraft gunnery.
