All persons over 20 years of age will be eligible for the COVID-19 booster dose, the Government yesterday said, adding that more information on the vaccination program will be announced shortly.
Administration of the booster dose commenced with frontline workers, before targeting persons over-60 and, later, persons over 20 who are immunocompromised. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is being administered as the third dose regardless of the vaccine type the first two doses were administered from.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 380,213 persons have received the booster to date, including 53,664 persons vaccinated on Tuesday.
COVID-19 vaccines were administered to a total of 59,921 persons on Tuesday.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 1,286 persons received the first dose of Pfizer, and 873 persons received the second dose of Pfizer on Tuesday. In total, the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to 1,533,508 persons and the second dose has been administered to 455,833 persons.
The first dose of Sinopharm has been administered to 11,939,945 persons and 10,908,150 persons have received the second dose. On Tuesday, 845 persons received the first dose of Sinopharm and 3,249 persons received the second dose.
Four persons received the second dose of Moderna on Tuesday and a total of 782,749 persons have received the second dose of the vaccine to date. The first dose of Moderna has been administered to 804,801 persons. The first dose of AstraZeneca has been administered to 1,479,631 persons and the second dose has been administered to 1,418,593 persons.
The Epidemiology Unit states that 159,110 persons have received the first dose of Sputnik V and 155,792 persons have received the second dose of Sputnik V.
A total of 15,916,995 persons have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to date and 13,721,117 persons have received the second dose as well.
Of the country’s population, 74.03% has received the first vaccine dose and 63.81% has received the second vaccine dose. According to the Epidemiology Unit, 93.8% of the country’s population over 20 years of age has received both vaccine doses.
