COVID-19 death count rises to 94

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country yesterday rose to 94 with health authorities confirming four COVID-19 deaths.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, two of the deaths occurred yesterday while two occurred on 22 November.

One of the deaths that occurred yesterday was of a 73-year-old resident of Colombo-15. She tested positive at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital. She died of a stroke and COVID-19 pneumonia.

The second death that occurred yesterday was a patient transferred from the Panadura Base Hospital to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). The individual was a resident of Atalugama and was 42-years-old. He died of chronic liver disease exacerbated by COVID-19 and brain swelling.

The Department of Government Information stated that a 74-year-old man from Ginigathhena passed away on 22 November while receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the Ragama Teaching Hospital. He was transferred from the Prisons Hospital and died of COVID-19 and paralysis caused by a diarrheal infection.

An individual from Siyambalape South also passed away on 22 November while receiving treatment at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. He was 54-years-old and died of chronic kidney disease exacerbated by COVID-19.
