COVID-19 death count rises to 96

The COVID-19 death count rose to 96 yesterday, with health authorities confirming two COVID-19 deaths in the country.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information (DGI), an individual from Pannipitiya passed away yesterday of COVD-19 and exacerbated liver disease. He was 80-years-old and was transferred from the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital to the Pimbura Base Hospital when he tested positive for COVID-19.

The DGI added that a resident of Colombo-12 passed away at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka on Monday. She was 45-years-old and the cause of death is cited as high blood pressure with COVID-19.
