The country’s COVID-19 fatalities yesterday rose to 667 with health authorities confirming six more COVID-19 deaths.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Government Information, a 37-year-old individual from Wattala died while receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital on Wednesday. The cause of death is cited as chronic kidney disease with COVID-pneumonia.
A 72-year-old individual from Welimada tested positive for COVID-19 at the Welimada Base Hospital and was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital. However, she died on Wednesday of COVID-pneumonia.
A 61-year-old individual from Nawalapitiya tested positive for COVID-19 while receiving treatment at the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital and was transferred to the Minuwangoda Base Hospital. She died of COVID-pneumonia on Wednesday.
On 27 April, an individual from Kalutara North died of COVID-19 and a stroke while being admitted to the Kalutara General Hospital. The individual was 77 years old.
An 85-year-old individual from Kandy died of COVID-pneumonia on 27 April while being transferred from the Kandy General Hospital to the Teldeniya Base Hospital.
On 25 April, an individual from Boralesgamuwa died of COVID-pneumonia at the Kothalawala Defence University (KDU) Hospital. The individual was 49 years old.
