CSE starts with trading halt

The Colombo stock market began today triggering a trading halt. This was after the ASPI fell 5.54% and S&P SL 20 fell 5.47%.

CSE said trading halted due to the S&P SL20 index dropping over 5% from the previous close. Therefore, the market halted for five minutes (from 10.31 a.m to 10.36 a.m) and the CSE will conduct an Auction Session for a duration of 25 minutes (from 10.36 a.m to 11.01 a.m). Thereafter, the Regular Trading session will commence at 11.01 a.m.

Yesterday the market closed within minutes of opening after induces crashed triggering two trading halts.
