In a move aimed at modernising and streamlining administrative processes, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the submission of the Electronic Transaction Orders (e-Grama Niladhari Information System) No. 01 of 2022 for Parliament approval.

The essence of these orders lies in providing facilities for the utilisation of electronic documents and reports to access services from District Secretariats, Divisional Secretariats and Grama Niladhari officers.

These orders, drafted under the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006, were officially published in the extraordinary gazette notification No. 2311/40 dated 22.12.2022.

The implementation of the e-Grama Niladhari Information System represents a significant step towards digitising and enhancing the efficiency of Government service delivery.

The orders aim to leverage electronic means for document submissions and reporting, encouraging a more accessible and streamlined process for citizens interacting with administrative bodies at various levels.

The proposal to this effect presented by the President, who also serves as the Technology Minister was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The integration of electronic transactions into administrative procedures will not only expedite services but also contribute to the broader digitisation efforts aimed at modernising governance in Sri Lanka.
