Cabinet nod to gazette Bill on Commission for Truth, Unity and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka

The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved publishing the draft Bill on Commission for Truth, Unity and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka in the Government Gazette and presenting the same in Parliament for approval.

The draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman received clearance from the Attorney General.

On 15 July, the Cabinet decided to prepare a new Bill amending the Bill on Truth, Peace and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka, taking into consideration the matters forwarded by the parties who are enthusiastic in respect of the said Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman. 

The joint proposal presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Defence Minister, Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, and Foreign Affairs Minister, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
