The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved publishing the Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2025 in the Government Gazette and submit the same for Parliamentary approval.
“The Attorney General’s clearance was received for the said Appropriation Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman. The first reading of the Budget 2025 will be held on 9 January,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
The second reading, also known as the Budget speech is set for 17 February, while the third reading and debate will take place from 27 February to 21 March 2025.
On 25 November 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved to instruct the Legal Draftsman to prepare the Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2025.
The proposal to this effect submitted by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Finance, Planning and Economic Development Minister was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday.
