Cabinet subcommittee appointed to organise 73rd Independence Day

The Cabinet this week appointed an eight-member subcommittee to organise and oversee the preparations for the 73rd Independence Day celebrations to be held on 4 February next year. 

The subcommittee includes Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Ministers Prof. G.L. Peiris, Dinesh Gunawardena, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Keheliya Rambukwella, Chamal Rajapaksa, Dullas Alahapperuma and Vasudeva Nanayakkara. 

The Cabinet approved a proposal by Irrigation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa to appoint an organising committee for the event.
