The ‘Ray of Hope’ Musical Night was held in Shangri-La Hotel to commemorate the 135th Anniversary of the Attorney General’s Department and raise funds for the children who suffered from the 21 April attacks.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China was the Platinum Sponsor and donated Rs. 10 million for those children’s future education. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan delivered a speech and shared his understanding about the ‘Ray of Hope’ from three different angles: For a country, judiciary and rule of law is the ‘Ray of Hope’. For China-Sri Lanka relations, the friendship and cooperation is the ‘Ray of Hope’.

For the children, love and help is their ‘Ray of Hope’. The Ambassador also briefed about the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries as well as the emergency aid provided from China after the 21 April attacks.
