Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong yesterday met with President Anura Dissanayake and handed over Rs. 30 million in emergency humanitarian relief funds from the Chinese Government to help the people affected by the floods in Sri Lanka overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes. The Ambassador said Chinese Government and people share the feelings with Sri Lankan people. China believes that under the leadership of President Anura Dissanayake, the Sri Lankan Government and people will be able to overcome the disaster and tide over the difficulties. China is the first country to provide relief funds to Sri Lanka to help the people affected by the floods, a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy added.
