Christmas celebrations at Lankan Embassy in Lebanon

Christmas was celebrated at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beirut on 24 December with the participation of the Sri Lankan community living in Lebanon.

The ceremony was organised by the Seela Samadhi Sandaham Ekamuthuwa of Lebanon with the guidance and assistance of the Embassy of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Lebanon H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijeratne Mendis read out the Christmas message of President Maithripala Sirisena at the event. Pastor Ranjith Lokuge of Carantina Church also addressed the gathering and explained the significance of Christmas. 

The program also featured Christmas carols sung by Sri Lankans who are members of Carantina and Laksetha Churches in Lebanon. Other Sri Lankans and the staff of the Embassy also joined them in singing Christmas carols.

 The role of Santa Claus was played by a Sri Lankan to make the event more vibrant and colourful. A large number of Sri Lankans and the Embassy staff with their families participated in the event.
