CoI probing Easter Sunday attacks gets 3-month extension

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has extended by three months the term of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) appointed to investigate, inquire into, and report on or take necessary actions in relation to the bomb explosions that occurred on 21 April 2019.

The term of the CoI which is to lapse on 20 September has been extended till 20 December for rendition of the final report on completion of its tasks.

The Commission was appointed by former President Maithripala Sirisena on 21 September 2019 and got its first extension at the end of six months in March 2020 till 20 September.

Its members are Court of Appeal Judges Janaka de Silva and Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne, Retired Court of Appeal Judges Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa and Bandula Kumara Atapattu, and Retired Ministry Secretary W.M.M.R. Adikari.
