The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has issued a circulation standard commemorative coin with the face value of Rs. 10 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps and to give due recognition to its service to the country over a period of 75 years.

A Central Bank statement said the first coin was officially presented to Parliamentarian and Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena, Mahinda Rajapaksa, by Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy yesterday.
The coin will be issued into circulation through licenced commercial banks and can be used for payments along with existing other currency notes and coins in circulation.
The Hermes God in the centre of the coin depicts the involvement of Sri Lanka Signal Corps in winning many wars owing to the amazing speed of message transference. The globe in the background indicates that the Sri Lanka Signal Corps is constantly growing in its technology and ideals which means it has to be globally aware. It is complemented by six stars on both sides of the emblem highlighting Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber and Intelligence. The Dharmachakra at the top emphasises the Sri Lanka Signal Corps’ discipline and honour to a cause.
The bottom of the coin indicates that the coin is issued to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Signal Corps. The year 2018 is indicated at the bottom of the coin. The country’s name in English, Sinhala and Tamil appears at the periphery of the coin.
The face value of the coin ‘10’ in large numerals and the value in words in English, Tamil and Sinhala appears at the centre of the coin. A round of lotus petals appears at the periphery of the coin.
