Court issues warrants for arrest of Negombo Prison Superintendent, 3 others

The Negombo Magistrate yesterday issued arrest warrants on Interdicted Negombo Superintendent of Prisons Anuradha Sampayo and three other officials of the Negombo prison.

The warrants were issued after the AG directed the Director CID to obtain warrants and arrest interdicted SP Negombo Prison, two chief jailors and a jailor on several Penal Code. The prisons officials are under investigation for colluding with prisoners and providing them with special facilities inside the prison in return for various favours.

Meanwhile Sampayo has filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal yesterday seeking an order preventing his arrest by the CID.
