The District Court of Nugegoda has issued an enjoining order preventing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) from taking any disciplinary action against Ministers Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara.
The enjoining order has been issued against the SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa, SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara, and the Chairman of the purported Disciplinary Committee.
According to the District Court of Nugegoda, the enjoining order is in effect till 18 April 2023.
Lawyers representing Minister Harin Fernando told the journalists that the court issued the order after taking into consideration another petition filed by SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara seeking relief in the District Court of Colombo over his membership in the United National Party (UNP) claiming that it is still valid.
The court observed that the same is violating Article 3.3 of the SJB Constitution.
Thereby, the court prevented the SJB from taking any disciplinary action against the memberships of MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara.
