D.E.W. Gunasekara steps down as Communist Party General Secretary

Veteran leftist and former parliamentarian D. E. W. Gunasekera yesterday stepped down as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka.

He announced his resignation during the Communist Party Working Committee meeting.

Following his resignation, the Communist Party appointed Dr. G. Weerasinghe as the new General Secretary.
