The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) on Thursday announced that the validity period of temporary vehicle number plates issued will end on 15 December.
DMT Commissioner General Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe said that the temporary vehicle number plates were issued due to challenges faced by the DMT in issuing permanent number plates; thus, requesting the motorists to obtain their original number plates before the deadline.
Driving vehicles with temporary number plates after 15 December will be considered illegal. The Traffic Police have been instructed to take necessary legal action against violators.
