Debate on PTA (Amendment) Bill on Tuesday

The Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Bill will be debated in Parliament on Tuesday, it was decided at the Committee on Parliamentary Business meeting held yesterday.

The vote on the Bill will be taken the same day, Parliament officials said. 

Amendments to the bill as suggested by the Supreme Court will be moved during the Committee Stage debate. The Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill will be taken up for debate on Thursday while the agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on 28 January to prevent double taxation and tax evasion on income tax is scheduled to be ratified on the same day in accordance with the Inland Revenue Act.
