Defence Ministry rejects reports on Army Commander’s service

The Ministry of Defence said it categorically denies the information disseminating on social media platforms which says the incumbent Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander General Shavendra Silva is holding the present appointment without legitimate service extension.

The Ministry said the report is falsely fabricated in order to mislead the general public.

The service extension granted to Shavendra Silva is still in force and it was effective from 31 December 2021, the Ministry clarified.
