Defence Secy. and Army Commander promoted to 4-star Generals

The President, in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief, yesterday promoted the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Major General (Retd.) Kamal Gunaratne and the Commander of Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva to the rank of four-star General. 

Military Spokesman Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe confirmed the appointments yesterday. Lt. Gen. Silva also holds Chief of Defence Staff position.
