  • Reveals conspiracy to defeat 22A
  • Warns people will not get scaled-down Cabinet

MP Dilan Perera of the reformist group of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna accused the Government of hunting down social media activists through the imposed emergency rule. Perera made these comments at a press conference held yesterday by the SLPP Dullas Alahapperuma faction in Colombo. However, Perera said these scare tactics have not worked on the people.

“Those involved in the Aragalaya did not pack up due to Ranil Wickremesinghe’s repression. People left the Aragalaya due to the actions of a political party and elitist group carrying out an aimless program,” Perera said. “Ranil Wickremesinghe is miserably mistaken if he thinks the Aragalaya packed up due to repression,” he stressed.

Perera also revealed a possible conspiracy against the implementation of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution. “A conspiracy is in play to defeat this by the same elitist group I mentioned earlier,” he said.

According to Perera, there are attempts to increase the number of Cabinet Ministers by labelling the Government as a ‘National Government’ and a provision allowing this has been stealthily included in the draft Bill. “They are not going to give the people the scaled-down Cabinet they have asked for,” he said.
