Who is a perfect human being? People may have different notions of a perfect human. Some may think if one has lots of wealth, name, fame, power and position one is perfect. Others may think being healthy

is to be perfect. Yet another may think serving the humanity or being knowledgeable or being religious is perfection. One could also think it is impossible to be a perfect human being. Let us explore the concept of a perfect human being according to the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Vedantic scripture.

Chapter 2 of the Gita enunciates the characteristic of a perfect human being. One of the prime qualities of a perfect human being is to be self-sufficient. The dignity of a human being is not to be affected by external circumstances or situations. One should not allow the external factors to unsettle one’s internal peace and happiness.

A perfect human goes through the experiences of life like any other person, but remains unaffected by their impact, whether positive or negative, and maintains a state of equanimity in and through the fluctuations of life. They never allow the mind to get depressed by sorrow or too excited with joy. They carry out duties according to the demands of the situation. This is possible only through a powerful intellect.

When one has a powerful intellect, one does not become a victim of emotions.  Having emotions is a human virtue. But allowing them to interfere with your reason and analysis is a weakness. Human perfection is to maintain absolute tranquillity of the mind and not be affected by the ups and downs of life.
