Discussion with 11 independent political parties and BASL successful: SLFP

The 11 independent political parties of the Government has held a successful meeting with the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) to form an interim Government. 

“The discussion was focused on forming an interim Government to and we hope to continue talks in future,” Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara told the Daily FT.

He said the BASL has also presented a few proposals on the interim government concept, which was proposed by the SLFP.

“The lengthy discussions evolved around addressing the people’s grievances and stabilising the economy in the immediate future,” he added.

MP Jayasekara also noted that the group spoke on practical issues of the 19st Amendment to the Constitution, which will be addressed through the impending 21st Amendment.

He said SLFP will push continue its effort to implement an all-party interim Government.
