Dr. Saman Weerasinghe appointed President’s Intl. Affairs Advisor

Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Russian Federation from the year 2016 to 2018, has been appointed as the President Maithripala Sirisena’s Adviser on International Affairs with immediate effect. As an individual, his achievements include an award presented by the Russian Government, which is the highest level of recognition received by a Sri Lankan citizen for friendship to date. His level of professionalism played a vital role in solving the tea crisis which arose in the recent past as the country was facing major economic risk, and Dr Weerasinghe was successful in settling all matters in the blink of an eye. As an individual of great calibre with much knowledge and experience, it is no doubt that the duties assigned to him as the President’s Adviser on International Affairs will be fulfilled timely and accordingly.
