The Election Commission has put forward several proposals to resolve the ongoing political impasse in the country including an all-party interim arrangement.

In a media release issued yesterday, the EC said that all parties must reach a consensus at this critical time and they should work together to bring about necessary changes to the constitution as well as election laws.

The EC also called for the pruning of privileges given to elected representatives such as duty-free permits, allowances etc. and for the restructuring of the public service.

They also proposed changes to the election laws to make campaign funding public, cut down on campaign expenditure and strengthen youth and female representation.
