  • Will commence today, continue in 3rd week of March

A four-day debate on the report by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry that probed the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks will begin today (10).

Party leaders who met yesterday decided to continue today’s debate over a further three days when the House meets in the third week of March.

The main report was tabled in the House last month, but opposition MPs called for all its volumes and annexures also to be tabled in Parliament.

Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said all volumes of the presidential commission reports should be tabled in the House.

“Even the Attorney General (AG) had not received some volumes of the commission report. How can the AG pursue legal action against anyone without the volumes which contains details on the evidence given by those who testified before the commission?” he asked.
