On 31 October, the Government of the Republic of Korea donated essential medical equipment worth approximately Rs. 8.83 million to the Kalutara Teaching Hospital.
This donation aimed at improving the medical environment in Sri Lanka under the Official Development Assistance program.
The equipment provided by the Korean Government included two Orthopaedic Power Drill Systems, one Micro Motor System for Dental & OMF surgeries, and 20 Wall Oxygen and Medical Air Terminal.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Ambassador Miyon Lee from the Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka, and KOICA Sri Lanka Office Country Director Myung Jin KIM. Kalutara Hospital Director Dr. Madhubashini Karunarathna also attended.
Hospital authorities including Director of the Kalutara Hospital extended gratitude to the Ambassador for this donation as it came in at a crucial moment when the hospital was in urgent need of these medical equipment.
The people and the Government of the Republic of Korea have invested in the improvement of the healthcare system in Sri Lanka for a long time. The Korean Government believes this donation will contribute towards the well-being of the patients and would indeed ease the surgical procedures carried out at the hospital.
