The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) Dr Sameera Senaratne was yesterday questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) over a shooting incident last year.
The vehicle in which Dr. Sameera Senaratne was travelling in was shot at in Malabe in February last year. Investigations later revealed that the shooting incident was staged. The Police said at the time that a politician was also involved in the incident and was connected to Dr. Sameera Senaratne.
Gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on the vehicle of Dr. Sameera Senaratne in Malabe on February 6 last year.
Senaratne escaped unhurt but the car was damaged in the shooting incident.
Dr. Sameera Senaratne was later temporarily relieved of his duties at SAITM. (Colombo Gazette)
