Extraordinary Gazette declares hike in fees related to registration of persons

The Government has issued an extraordinary Gazette notification upwardly revising the fees charged for the registration of persons and related services. 

The Gazette notification has been issued by the Public Security Minister Tiran Alles under Section 52 of the Registration of Persons Act, No. 32 of 1968.

Accordingly, the fee for the issuance of a certified copy of an NIC has been set at Rs. 1,000.

Fees for the certification of authenticity of the particulars relating to an NIC were also revised. 

Online submissions made through the Registration of Persons Department’s website will be charged a fee of Rs. 25, while submissions made by way of a physical document or electronic means acceptable to the Commissioner General will be charged Rs. 500.

The fee for the registration of a person as a photographer under the Act has been raised from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. The annual fee for the renewal of a Certificate of Registration increased from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000.
