First anniversary commemoration of Sarvodaya Founder Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne on Monday

The first anniversary commemoration of Sarvodaya founder Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, who dedicated his entire life to social development for more than half a century as a humanitarian and visionary, will be held at the Sri Lanka Foundation on Monday (28).

A special program to release the digital archive ‘Manasata Dwaraya’, which contains digital data of the late Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne will also be held on that day. University of Moratuwa Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Chandana Gamage, who was instrumental in the setting up of the digital archives of the late Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, will officially launch the archives on the day. Prof. Gamage has been pivotal in transforming Dr. Ariyaratne’s vast intellectual and humanitarian legacy into a digitally accessible and enduring resource for generations to come.

Specialist Dr. Mohan Silva will participate as the Chief Guest at the commemoration ceremony, and the special commemoration lecture will be delivered by Specialist Dr. Ruwan Ekanayake.

The event, which will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 that evening, is organised by the Sarvodaya Movement and the A.T. Ariyaratne Trust Fund.

Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne was awarded numerous local and foreign honours for his unique revolution in eradicating poverty. His life story has been published in five volumes under the title Bhavatanha.
