Five State Ministers will serve as Acting Ministers till President returns

As President Ranil Wickremesinghe commences his two-day official visit to India yesterday, the Ministries under his purview have been temporarily entrusted to five State Ministers to oversee during his absence.

The move ensures the seamless functioning of the Government and continues the momentum of critical initiatives during the President’s time away from the country.

Accordingly, the following State Ministers have been entrusted with acting roles in the respective Ministries:

Defence State Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon will be the Acting Defence Minister during this period.

Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe will take on the role of Acting Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policy.

Investment Promotion  State Minister Dilum Amunugama has been appointed as the Acting Minister for Investment Promotion.

Technology State Minister Kanaka Herath will be the Acting Minister of Technology.

Social Empowerment  State Minister Anupa Pasqual has been assigned dual roles as the Acting Minister of Women, Child Affairs, and Social Empowerment

President Wickremesinghe departed yesterday on an official two-day visit to India, on an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
