The FCID has commenced an investigation into a complaint that the former State Minister T.B. Ekanayake has misused a vehicle belonging to the Central Cultural Fund (CCF) while he was serving as the Minister of Cultural Affairs between 2012 and 2015.
He has been accused of providing a state vehicle for the personal use of a Buddhist monk when he was the Cultural Affairs Minister.
The complaint has been lodged by the Organisation for the Protection of Central Cultural Fund.
The 16 MPs who left the Government have also arrived at the FCID to show support to the former Minister. The police have strengthened security in the area.
