Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was seen greeting Chinese President Xi Jinping at the conference commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence in Beijing, China yesterday. Rajapaksa is currently on a four-day visit to the country. China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong met with Rajapaksa over the weekend, reaffirming their strong partnership. Weidong, referring to Rajapaksa as an “old friend of China,” assured continued support for Sri Lanka’s economic and social development. Rajapaksa expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support and sought ongoing cooperation for the future.
